We are an association actively working in the nature conservation sector since 2001. The Wetlands Conservation Centre was officially registered in 2002 under the name “Let’s Protect Wetlands!” Association (Stowarzyszenie “Chrońmy Mokradła!”) (abbreviated to CMok). The change to our current name was made in 2006, though the association still makes use of the old abbreviation to this day.

The foundation of our association was laid by people emotionally or professionally connected to the Całowanie Peatland, situated in the Mazovian Landscape Park. It was there during gatherings occasioned by the World Wetlands Day, that the idea was born to found an organisation whose overarching goal would be the protection of just such places.

The cooperation of naturalists from the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Geography of the University of Warsaw, the Institute for Land Reclamation and Grassland Farming in Falenty, the Polish Ecological Club "Otwockie Sosny", the Masovian Society for the Protection of Fauna, the Agreement for the Protection of Wetlands and the Masovian Landscape Park resulted in the development of an active protection program for the Całowanie peatland. It was also the beginning of broader activities of the Association in the field of protection of wetlands with their specific fauna and flora, as well as in the field of environmental education.

Currently, the Wetlands Conservation Centre is active in all of Poland, with special attention being paid to Mazowieckie, Lubelskie, Podlaskie and Suwalskie. The association currently counts more than 150 members, including professional naturalists as well as amateurs. Responsibility for steering the association’s activities falls to the Board.

At the end of 2015, we obtained the status of a Public Benefit Organisation, which means that you can donate 1,5% of your tax to support our activities.

We would love to cooperate with you!
