Donate 1,5% of your taxes to the protection and conservation of peatlands, that they may be full of water and full of life - for nature, the climate, and for us.
Wetlands once made up about 18% of Poland's surface. Today, due to human activity, almost all of them have ceased to serve their functions. Over 85% of peatlands have been drained for the needs of agriculture and forestry, changing from carbon dioxide sinks to a source of its emission into the atmosphere. As a result of regulation and pollution, 80% of rivers have a significantly deteriorated ecological condition and a much lower diversity of habitats, and 80% of lakes cannot be described as healthy. Species associated with wetlands are among the fastest disappearing.
Wetlands are a key part of nature, and protecting as well as restoring them to their natural state is essential to stopping the climate catastrophe and biodiversity crisis, and to ensuring a healthy and secure future for us all.
So throw 1,5% of your tax into the bog!

Protecting wetlands means protecting clean water resources, preventing droughts and soil degradation, protecting against floods, and regulating the microclimate. Restoring proper hydration to drained peatlands helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and restoring wetlands along rivers is the easiest way to purify water flowing from fields, preventing agricultural fertilizers from entering rivers. Not to mention the fact that the same water will be used by endangered species of plants and animals. In addition, there is the opportunity to draw joy and inspiration from communing with wildlife, e.g., during walks or kayaking trips.
The Wetlands Conservation Centre has been carrying out its mission for over 20 years. We have the status of a Public Benefit Organisation. We can carry out our statutory activities largely thanks to funds transferred as part of the 1.5% tax. They allow us, among other things:
- to protect the most valuable natural peatlands in Poland from destruction,
- to increase the scale of activities so that degraded, drained peatlands in Poland can regain water,
- to conduct educational activities, such as the annual celebration of World Wetland Day or the promotion of paludiculture (wetland agriculture),
- to conduct active nature conservation campaigns in the field with the participation of volunteers,
- to consult on key legal acts for nature and climate protection, both at the national and international level.
By donating 1.5% of your tax to the Wetlands Conservation Centre, you help us protect and restore wildlife in Poland, and you also contribute to slowing down climate change.

You can donate 1.5% of your income tax to the Wetlands Conservation Centre in several ways:
- In your annual tax return completed online, enter our KRS number: 0000109564 in the appropriate box. You can quickly and easily complete the e-PIT prepared by the Ministry of Finance on the Tax Portal. Select a pre-prepared PIT on the portal: podatki.gov.pl, enter our KRS number, and immediately send the documents to the selected tax office.
- Print the appropriate PIT and in the section "Application for transfer of 1.5% of the tax due to a public benefit organization (OPP)" enter an amount equal to 1.5% of the value of the calculated tax, rounding it down to full tens of groszy, and provide our KRS number.
Pensioners and annuitants can also donate 1.5% of their tax to protect wetlands by completing the PIT-37 form themselves based on the PIT form sent by ZUS, or by completing a special, simple PIT-OP form and entering our KRS number there.
When do you have to settle your tax? In 2025, PIT tax returns for 2024 must be submitted by April 30. 1.5% of your tax will go to the organization by the end of July.
On behalf of the wetlands, we sincerely thank you for your support!
